Software Engineering & Technology University Program (S.E.T.U.P)
The Software Engineering & Technology University Program (S.E.T.U.P) is a pipeline to recruit, develop, and retain high-potential entry-level technology professionals who are prepared and positioned to contribute to the successful execution of BNY Mellon's technology strategy and initiatives. The 2022 S.E.T.U.P program will begin in Summer 2022.
Program At A Glance:
- Assignments across various job functions within Technology* that combine learning with skill development through practical work and projects;
- Extensive training curriculum and ongoing learning assignments that will help develop technical, professional, interpersonal and leadership skills; and
- Career development and networking support from a host of corporate leaders including executive mentors, peer mentors, business stakeholders and a dedicated program manager.
Upon successful completion of the program and based on overall business need, S.E.T.U.P participants will be matched to a full-time role, taking into account factors such as business requirements, analyst preferences, and overall performance throughout the program.

Cyber Security Analyst Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist in maintaining the effectiveness of enterprise-wide information security strategy including related programs, processes and initiatives.
- Security Assessments - Participate in conducting risk and security assessments using ethical hacking techniques, tools and methods to uncover latent risk. Work as part of a team to present findings to system owners and senior managers. Collaborate with engineers to develop solutions. - Full Stack Engineering - Work as part of a team to develop software using an agile methodology. Participate in requirements gathering. Particpate in building a devops (CI/CD) workflow into existing development cycles and new applications. Be able to capably write code in at least one of: python, golang, java, and ruby.
- Security Infrastructure Engineering - Work as part of a team which will engineer, maintain and deploy security infrastructure to detect threats, identify security vulnerabilities, and prevent breaches. Learn how to bake security into everything we do by introduction in the design phase. Partner with senior engineers and infrastructure teams to bolster security by introducing automation, revamped approval processes, and gap remediation. Participate in design of methods and frameworks to catch cybersecurity controls that silently fail.
- Threat Detection and Incident Response - Learn incident response by working with a team to correlate logs across threat identification systems. Contribute to the analysis of new attacks. Help design ways to detect, prevent and harden against them using advanced big data analysis suites, machine learning, and scripting. Participate in automation of response workflows to resolve incidents with ease. Transfer lessons learned into Security Infrastructure Engineering and software development efforts.
- Security Analytics - Learn to apply statistical techniques and machine learning to process millions of data points to find hidden threats (anomaly detection). Integrate data sources from APIs. Develop the ability to detect anomalies and leverage data to tell a story to improve the bank's security posture.
Program Eligibility/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required. Candidate is typically a recent college hire with a bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline.
- 0-3 years of experience in software development preferred. Previous technology internship is a plus
