United Wholesale Mortgage (UWM) is looking for ambitious junior developers/engineers interested in increasing the velocity of their career growth. The DevOps Experience (DevOps-X) Program is focused on developing the skills required to support and automate all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). We are looking for confident candidates that are curious about solving challenges using cutting edge technology. As a DevOps-X Trainee at UWM, you will learn the skills needed to help UWM deliver enterprise applications at scale. You will have the opportunity to be taught by some of the best DevOps engineers and software developers in the area from the largest Wholesale Mortgage Lender in the country.

This program will prepare you to work at the highest level as an Associate DevOps Engineer on our centralized DevOps team, where asking questions is encouraged and opportunities for growth are abundant!

What You Will Be Doing
  • Building automation around source control to enforce best practices and company standards
  • Learning how to deliver software quickly with high quality
  • Exploring and implementing new technologies and tools that enable teams to be more productive
  • Collaborating with and shadow other teams across the organization including Enterprise Technology, Security, Application Development, Architecture, and more to build relationships and move forward together on high-level initiatives
  • Writing and maintaining continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines
  • Advocating for and build out the developer experience
  • Suggesting opportunities for IT to “shift left” and design self-service solutions to act as a force multiplier and increase our organizational impact
  • Supporting UWM’s adoption of cloud technologies across all the major public clouds
Required

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
  • Experience using an OOP language or Scripting lanuage to write working software
  • The ability to independently solve problems with incomplete information
  • A confident team player with ambition and drive
  • Strong communication skills and sense of ownership
  • Ability to receive and apply feedback
Preferred
  • Experience using CI/CD tools like Jenkins, TeamCity, CircleCI, Azure DevOps, Octopus, or Harness
  • Experience querying relational databases to retrieve and modify data
  • Experience using Scripting languages like PowerShell, bash, or Groovy
  • Container technologies like Docker, Istio, or Kubernetes
  • Git source control tools like TFS, GitHub, or Bitbucket
  • Cloud technologies like AKS, Trisotech, or Azure Service Bus
  • Config-as-code or infrastructure-as-code tools like Puppet, Ansible, JulieOps, or Terraform
