SB is seeking a Software Engineer Intern to work with data integration across multiple systems. The position will help with the design, coding, enhancements, testing, and operational support of data integration and workflow applications. The position will be based in Topeka, Kansas.
Duties And Responsibilities
The intern will work with the Investment Operations Technology Team and assist in the design, development, testing, deployment, and integration of software applications. The intern will work under a senior developer to assist in the completion of various technology initiatives. Other responsibilities include:
- Work with a team to address system issues
- Utilize issue tracking systems to identify and document technology issues and improvements
- Support the senior developer through researching, developing, and testing software
- Collaborate with other team members on projects
- Gather business requirements
- Help develop and document workflows
- Identify manual processes and provide solutions to automate
- Operational support - including resolution of incidents, service requests, planned support activities, and problem management
- Test application programs from business requirements and/or program specifications on time and according to requirements
- Assist in applications development by coordinating requirements, schedules, and activities;
- Assist in technical designs and documentation as required by SDLC
- Communicate, escalate, and/or resolve risks and issues related to assigned projects/initiatives
- Contribute to the identification and/or delivery of related technical process improvements
- Collaborate with our business partners and other technology professionals at all levels
- Business IT Systems Architecture and Web 2.0 Application Design
- Computer programing languages: C#, UiPath
- Databases: Microsoft SQL Server
- Frameworks: .Net, .Net Core, ASP.NET, Angular, ASP.NET Core, AngularJS
- Technologies: Git, GitLab, Amazon Web Services
- Tools: Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
Students eligible for the internship will be current, fulltime students available to work approximately 19 hours a week, beginning immediately. Student will be expected to work during and in between semesters and up to full-time during the summer. This is not a summer only internship. Pursuing a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems or related field preferred
- Familiarity with code design principals such as Object Orientated Programming
- Familiarity with web application operation and design
- Familiarity with data structures, data bases, computer systems design and operation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong skills in analysis and problem solving
- Preferred
- Experience with web technologies such as Angular or AngularJS
- Experience with object orientated programming languages such as C# or C/C++
- Experience with querying data from a database
- Hands on experience with Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code
- Some experience or course work in object oriented programming, JavaScript, ETL tools such as SSIS
- Some experience or course work with SQL in a Relational Database Environment
- Experience in software analysis, development, engineering and support is desired
- Experience working in cross-functionally or across organizations
- Ability to handle multiple tasks of highly varied nature in a timely manner
