Design Research Intern - USA 2022

Mark43's mission is to empower communities and their governments with new technologies that improve the safety and quality of life for all. Come join our design research team this summer as a paid intern, and learn what it's like to design software for police officers, detectives, and 911 dispatchers. You should be inspired by solving unique problems and excel at assisting designers as they gather and communicate insights that put our users at the center of our design thinking. The ideal intern loves researching and collaborating with design and product peers to gain insights that drive solutions with intent to solve tough problems.

We believe we can only succeed if we deeply understand our end-users and the communities they serve. We spend a lot of time with first responders to learn about their pain points, watch their experience and see the real impact of our work. This is a unique opportunity to explore an industry that needs human factors perspectives.

What we expect from you

• Create and conduct independent research using a variety of qualitative research methods, utilizing quantitative methods when necessary.
• Work cross-functionally with product design, engineering, customer success, and product management to ensure teams makes user-centric, data-driven decisions.
• Improving both your generative as well as evaluative research skills by learning from research and product design best practices.
• Ensure effective communication of research findings and advocate findings outside of the project team.
• Collect and analyze end user behavior through lab studies, field visits, ethnography, surveys, benchmark studies, and other means of testing, etc.
• Unique opportunity to do ride-alongs with our first responders.
• Actively pursuing a degree in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, or similar field.
