The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a Full-Time Sensor Software Engineer (NH-0855-03) to work for the Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) in the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.

Salary Range: $81,911 to $126,621

Qualifications:

The person selected for this position will provide software process oversight for the Mission Systems Sensor IPT to include technical oversight of the Mission Systems EW, EODAS, EOTS, and Radar software suites; will also provide functional area support for Legacy and Follow-on development EW systems.

  • Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Computer or Software Engineering from an institution with an ABET accredited engineering program.
  • The employee must meet the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position.
  • The employee must meet the continuing acquisition education requirements IAW DoDI 5000.66 paragraph E2.2.8.
  • Professional knowledge of electronics engineering concepts, principles, methods, techniques, and standard practices to perform a wide range of assignments involving many different and unrelated engineering processes and methods associated with installation, operations, and maintenance projects.
  • Knowledge of electronics engineering sufficient to adapt precedents or existing strategies to meet unusual needs, special demands, and determine feasible solutions to meet project requirements related to computer software/hardware and automatic test equipment.
  • Knowledge of analysis, evaluation, fact-finding, and investigative techniques in order to gather data, identify significant factors, and recommend a solution from a number of possible alternatives.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing, as well as work in a professional manner with peers, management, contractors, academia, and other agencies.
  • Ability to plan and organize work and coordinate with other engineering disciplines.

Duties include:

  1. Provide SW process oversight for the sensors IPT, contributions focus on the following areas: Requirements Management, Software Design, Code, Test, Integration, and Planning, Software Reviews, Requirements Verification, Software Configuration Management, and Quality Assurance.
  2. Monitor and assess acceptability of software product anomalies and delivered product.
  3. Assess contractor SW estimations (such as assumptions, characterizations, etc.).
  4. Perform engineering analysis of impacts to airworthiness and provide documentation to support airworthiness assessments.
  5. Responsible for product integrity and closure on technical issues.
  6. Identify, characterize, monitor, and develop mitigation plans for technical/programmatic risks.
  7. Monitor and analyze contractor progress performance metrics.
  8. Supports operations evaluations and engineering analysis of the Mission Systems combat capability.
  9. Assess roadmaps, design trades, risk and performance assessments against future block plans.
