WHAT'S THE ROLE?
As a technical, hands-on Test Engineer, your job is to participate in the manual and automation testing of our web based applications and micro services. You will be under the mentorship of a Test Engineering Manager of a team with an already-established, mature testing process. Your role will be that of a "full-stack" Test Engineer - someone who has a strong appreciation and skill in manual / exploratory testing with the capability of writing automated and performance tests (time and training is allotted after hiring to learn our automation framework).

Your general milestones are the following:

Within the first two weeks, be able to jump head-first into an ongoing project and ask the appropriate questions / do the appropriate research to effectively construct test cases and understand what needs to be done in terms of integration / regression testing and eventual deployment.

Within one month, contribute to sprint features testing by writing test plans and executing them. Understand the basics of node.js and our automation framework (written in node.js) to the point in which you can contribute basic automation tests.

Within two months, fully support team by testing ongoing sprint stories. Be able to discuss high-level functionality and infrastructure of all project applications and services. You should understand all user flows and how the technology behind it works.

Within five months, be able to build out automated API and UI tests leveraging our current automation test infrastructure (written in node.js)
Responsibilities:

Chip in to crafting test plans and testing in ongoing sprints

Supply to the team by driving user story analysis and feature grooming, crafting and developing detailed test-cases and test scenarios

Design, implement, and maintain cross-platform test automation scripts
-
Develop and maintain BDD test scenarios and regression plans
-
Participate in full test development life cycle including requirements analysis and design

Work with developers to provide additional research and debugging of issues when more information is needed to resolve problems
Bring Your Best! What this role needs:

4+ years of QA Engineering experience
-
Professional experience as Automation Engineer working in an agile environment

2+ years of RESTful services testing experience
-
Strong analytic and debugging skills
-
Detailed understanding of QA concepts, STLC, SDLC, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Deployment

Proven experience in automating tests with using JS, Java, Python or other languages

Validated understanding of different element locator strategies and ability to write custom XPath, CSSPath
-
Familiarity with HTML, CSS, REST APIs, JSON, RDBMS, XML/YAML
-
Experience with Git, Jira
-
Ability to work independently with minimal direction

Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Technical Skills:
-
Experience with JavaScript based automation frameworks (examples: WebdriverIO, NightwatchJS, Protractor, etc.)

Experience developing and maintaining test scenarios using BDD (Gherkin)

Performance and load testing experience (for example K6)

Experience with writing unit tests
